Hi all, I’m approaching my first 30 days using the Z60 as part of Mova’s #GetYourZ60 campaign, and for my final post (for now!), I wanted to reflect on my experiences using the Z60 over the last month and talk about the biggest pros and cons that have stood out to me.
Overall, I have been super happy with the Z60. As I’ve mentioned in some of my prior posts, I had a P10 before this, which I really liked overall, but the Z60 definitely takes it to another level and is worthy of the “flagship” title. It hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been fairly close.
PROS OF MY EXPERIENCE:
- Mopping: this is probably the Z60’s biggest selling point, and the roller mop definitely lives up to the hype. It does a LOT better with stains than my P10 did, and judging by the dirty water bin, it’s also a lot better at getting out that invisible dirt and grime that you might not see with the naked eye. My floors definitely feel and look cleaner.
- Vacuuming: the Z60 is a great vacuumer. It has a very high suction rating, allowing it to pick up more debris than my P10, but it also sounds quieter and more pleasant for the most part. I haven’t really had to turn it up to max suction so I can imagine that would be louder, but it’s honestly done great on its regular CleanGenius settings. I will say that it does still struggle at times with crumbs or dust that are in corners or by the edges of furniture and carpets, but it handles most stuff with ease.
- Obstacle clearance/avoidance: The Z60 does a great job of navigating through tight pathways and under low-clearance areas. The retracting LIDAR sensor is a great feature since the Z60 is a bit thicker than my P10 due to the hardware for the roller mop. My apartment doesn’t have any super-tall thresholds, but the thresholds to our bathrooms does sometimes trigger the StepMaster system, which is always cool to watch in action and does a good job of getting over those raised areas. It’s also usually pretty quick at stopping or redirecting if an obstacle suddenly enters its path (such as someone walking right in front of it) without hitting anything
- Value: the Z60 is a great performer for the price, but what makes it stand out even more on the value front is the amount of accessories included when you buy it. You get a big bottle of detergent enough for multiple refills, plus a smaller bottle of pet detergent enough to fill the second compartment once. And then you get a ton of replacement dust bags, mops, brush rolls, filters, etc. I would think all of this would cost over $100 so it’s great to have it included at no extra cost.
Although my time with the Z60 has definitely leaned firmly to the positive side, it hasn’t been totally perfect, so there are a couple of drawbacks to discuss.
CONS OF MY EXPERIENCE:
- Wear and tear: this has definitely been the biggest con for me. When I received my Z60, I was impressed by the sophisticated, premium-looking black and gold color scheme, with a nice mix of finishes and textures on the base station and the robot itself. It definitely looks elevated over a robot like the P10, befitting the Z60’s position in Mova’s lineup. Although the base station has remained in good condition, I noticed some surprising wear and tear on the robot itself cropping up quite quickly. Specifically, as you can see in the photos, the robot has developed some pretty noticeable scratches along the front and side of the robot. I assume this is from unintentional collisions. Although it doesn’t impact the actual performance of the robot, it’s definitely not nice to look at, and had I paid for the robot out of pocket I’d probably be disappointed by this. I assume it has something to do with the black paint that they use on that section of the robot, since my P10 never got visibly scratched up like that. Again, the fact that my biggest complaint with the Z60 is cosmetic is a testament to what a strong cleaner this robot is, but it was still kind of disappointing to see.
- Battery life: this is the other major negative difference that I noticed over the P10 — the Z60 loses charge much more quickly. This is understandable, since its mopping system is more complicated with more moving parts, but it is still something to be aware of. Thankfully, I’ve never had it have to stop cleaning halfway to charge itself, since my apartment isn’t very large, but it would be good to be aware of for people with larger homes. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, and the Z60 is usually down to about 30% charge after doing its daily cleaning.
Overall, I’ve had a great time using the Z60 and I can’t wait to continue with it now that these first 30 days are up. I was already a fan of the Mova brand from my experiences with the P10, but this robot is even more impressive. Thank you again to Mova for inviting me to participate in this program and I hope my posts have been helpful to anyone interested in getting a Z60 of their own!
