One Month with the Mova Z60 Ultra - Let’s Talk Maintenance

I’ve had the Z60 Ultra for almost a month now and I wanted to talk a little bit about the usual maintenance you’ll be doing with the robot. Spoiler alert: it’s not much!

Clean and Dirty Water Tanks

This is the bit of maintenance you’ll be doing most often and luckily it’s pretty easy, especially with the redesigned tank shape. They’re now wider and shorter, making them easier to empty, refill, and carry without spilling. I find that I have to empty my dirty water tank and refill the clean water around every 6 days and it only takes me a few minutes. Every once and a while, I’ll take some more time to scrub the insides of the tanks with a tiny amount of dish soap to remove any buildup or gunk.I do have a secret though - two things that really keep my tanks both looking spotless and smelling clean. You can see them installed in my photo with the cleaning and dirty water tanks.

In the clean water tank, on top of the preinstalled descaling module, I have a Dreame Ag+ silver ion module, which works to prevent mold and bacteria from growing in your clean water tank. I live in Florida, where it can be really humid, and with my old P10 Pro Ultra Gen 1 I actually had to clean a bit of mold that had formed inside the clean water tank’s tubing. After that, I got the silver ion module and I never had that problem again. In the dirty water tank, I have a Dreame deodorization module, which completely eliminates that funky smell you can get from your dirty water tank if you don’t empty it daily.

Interestingly enough, these are both Dreame branded and I am almost certain that Dreame and Mova are sister companies. This is further cemented by the fact that there’s actually a space inside the Z60 Ultra’s dirty water tank where the deodorization module actually snaps into place!
Unfortunately, neither Mova or Dreame sells these on their North American website though. I have no idea why, because they work great! I got mine from an AliExpress store called Sweeper Parts Store.

Dock Self-Cleaning Feature

This was my biggest friction point with my P10 and Mova has completely resolved it with Z60 Ultra. With the P10, a very small bit of water would pool at the base of the dock near the drainage port after the mop cleaning process. This pooled water would get pretty funky after about a week and I’d have to manually clean the washboard base using a dock self-cleaning feature in the app. Once activated, the P10’s dock would release hot water into the base and I would have to scrub it up, after which the drainage port would pump it out. This wasn’t such a big deal, but having to do it every week was annoying.

With the Z60 Ultra, there is none of that! There’s no water pooling anywhere in the base, just a bit of debris after a month of use, as shown in the photos. The self-cleaning feature is still present and I ran it just for good measure. It lasts about a minute or two and performs a deep cleaning of the robot’s mop and base area. After that, and manually removing the base (there’s a tab near the front that allows you to lift up the base plate) and washing it under my sink, it’s spotless! This was something I used to have to do every week. Now I’m doing it for the first time after a month of daily use and I realize I didn’t even need to do it - I could have waited a few more weeks without any issue! The Z60 Ultra is incredibly low maintenance.

Dust Bin

Another major improvement from my previous robot vacuums, the dust bin is virtually empty and obstruction free after a month of daily cleanings. Typically, you’d see at least a bit of dirt clumped together in the bin, or worse, a partial blockage, but that is totally nonexistent here. The whopping 28,000Pa of suction the Z60 Ultra uses to both vacuum and empty its bin means both your carpets and the removable internal dust bin should be spotless.

One thing I like to do whenever I check on the dust bin is to clean up the filter a bit. While you can actually wash the filter, I prefer simply gently smacking the filter's plastic housing the side of my sink, after which the dust trapped inside the filter folds usually comes flying right out. Keeping your filter clean and replacing it when necessary ensures optimal vacuuming performance.

Conclusion

Before the Mova Z60 Ultra, I’ve owned several robot vacuums over the years and nothing comes close in terms to true automation and ease of day to day use. Honestly, I think we’re hitting the limits for lower maintenance requirements. At this point, the only thing I could wish for is for the robot to grow a pair of legs and refill the water tanks itself!
