Emo’s Spa Day: Scuff Removal and Deep Clean of our MOVA Z60.
After a few weeks of hard work, it was time to treat Emo (our MOVA Z60) to a well‑deserved spa day. Think of it as a full detail service that goes beyond regular maintenance.
Tools for the Spa Treatment
A fine‑tooth comb for hair wrapped around the axle bristles -- don't use your spouse's!
A detail brush for dust in the vents, cracks, and seams
An old toothbrush
A nylon spudger
Canned air for blowing out the tight spots
A disposable microfiber cloth for general wipe‑downs, I prefer The Rag Company's Rip N' Rag
A magic eraser for scuff marks (works wonders on the bumper)
The Process
Emo had earned a few scuffs navigating tight corners and table legs. I used water and a magic eraser with light pressure. I’m known to go overboard, but not this time. Gentle pressure and deliberate motions cleaned up the cosmetic scuffs in about two minutes. The bumper looks almost new again. If I had needed something more than water, I would have used a polymer‑based no‑rinse wash like Optimum No Rinse (ONR) or P&S Absolute.
On to the brush assembly. A quick comb‑through pulled out the usual suspects: hair, threads, and whatever else Emo has collected. The detail brush helped loosen the dust that settles into the crevices around the sensors and mop roller housing.
The roller brush cavity was brushed and then wiped down with a damp microfiber. The roller mop cavity needed extra attention, so I used the nylon spudger and an expired toothbrush head to get into the grooves, and then I wiped it down.
Canned air was next. A few blasts around the non‑sensitive electronic parts and the fine dust that the detail brush couldn't reach disappeared.
A final wipe with a microfiber cloth and Emo was looking refreshed and ready for another week of cleaning chaos. As an auto detail hobbyist, it felt good to take care of this little robot that's taking care of our floors.
