[V50 Ultra Complete] Rug troubles...

I have a similar issue to another user.  I have a large area rug that is thick (think 1970's shag carpet) and my robot, when on it's mapping run went up on the rug, moved around a little bit, enough to map the area and then left the room.  However, now, if I have it clean the room, it will either ignore the rug completely, or if it does go up on the rug, it will move around in erratic movements, turn it's light on, then off several times, maybe it will move off the rug, then back on again, say it has completed the vacuum task and head back to the dock after not cleaning ANY of the rug.  I have labeled this section as a rug of medium to high pile and tried everything I know to do, including trying to do a custom job of this room only and nothing will get the robot to clean this rug.  Any suggestions?  This rug picks up a lot of pet hair and it's hard for my wife to vacuum as it hurts her back.  This is one of the main reasons I bought this robot!

Thank you,

That definitely sounds frustrating, especially since the rug was one of the main reasons for getting the robot in the first place. A few things I would try:

1. Turn off AI obstacle avoidance/collision avoidance in the robot settings. Thick shag rugs can sometimes confuse the sensors and cause the robot to hesitate, loop around, or end the task early.

2. Run the room in Vacuum Only mode and enable both “Clean Carpets First” and “Intensive Carpet Cleaning.” That tends to help the robot stay focused on the rug instead of trying to constantly adjust for mop behavior.

3. Was the rug added by you or the robot on the app, i.e. was it system detected or manually added? Delete the carpet area from the map completely, save the map, then manually re-add the rug and set it as medium/high pile again. Sometimes the carpet data itself can get a little wonky after the initial mapping run.

Hopefully one of those gets it behaving normally on the rug again.
