Hello everyone,
I am incredibly excited to share my first ever review on a robot vacuum.
Full disclosure: I received this Z60 through MOVA's Get & Create program at no cost in exchange for honest feedback. Everything here is my real experience and from my testing at my primary residence.
Preface: Our household consists of two super busy young working professionals (with a baby on the way) who have zero time to run any errands Monday through Friday. Our day starts with work and mostly ends with work.
We recently were fortunate enough to get our own place and say goodbye to our rental unit. One of the biggest things we struggled with at our previous place was overall cleanliness. We would end up panicking and hyper clean our place only when we were expecting a guest or visitor. We were also treating it like a rental so cable management was not the best and things were always scattered on the floor. Anywho, we decided that we will not continue this behavior in our own place and ensure that things stay as tidy as possible. This is where our hunt for a robot vacuum began.
We finally settled on a Mova P50 Ultra which has been our workhorse since the past 2 months. And when Mova reached out about this program, I was extremely excited to review it since the only reason we did not get the Z60 was it was out of our budget. So you’ll notice a lot of my review will have comparisons between the Mova P50 Ultra and the Z60.
Floor Area and Type: Our current place is a single story 1200 Sq Ft house with 3 bedrooms that have a thick high pile carpet and the rest of the floor being vinyl.
Observations:
- Right off the bat, I noticed that the wheels on the Z60 are extremely quiet on my wood floor compared to the P50. This gives me confidence to setup a night time cleaning schedule.
- Carpet recognition: The Z60 is extremely good at recognizing low pile slim rug/carpet like the green one in the picture. This works right out the box without even setting up a space as carpeted in the map area. Day 2 of owning P50, it mopped all over my low pile rug.
- The silicon piece at the bottom of the Z60 really helped a ton with my high pile carpet in the bedrooms. I’m not 100% certain on what the job of this silicon piece is, but basically it acts as a scrapper for the carpet and really helps release the buried debris, hair and dust off the carpet and help the vacuum do its job: suction.
- This brings me to my next point, suction is just AMAZING. You’ll notice it a lot more if you have carpets since that’s something I noticed on Day 1 of testing. Of course at Max+ suction is a bit loud, but that’s obviously not a con, just an observation. One of my videos show how well the vacuum sucks up embedded hair in the carpet.
- Mopping: This is where the roller mop has won me over compared to the dual rotary mop system. It is extremely powerful and leaves the floors squeaky clean. I believe that a roller mop is superior and also the increased pressure from the mop pad helps a lot. I especially realized this when the first dirty tank of water was pitch black despite being cleaned every day by my other vacuum robot.
- Unboxing experience was super duper easy and hassle free. The main unit comes wrapped in a cloth cover and the robot itself comes in a dedicated box. Overall setup took less than 10 mins, probably cause I have already done it once with the Mova P50?
- App: If you’ve thought about it, Mova has it on the app. That’s how I would describe the app. It is really well thought and designed app. For example: On Day 1 after I ran my first cycle, the robot went back to the dock and started charging. The mop pad was drying and it was just too loud for my liking… I thought to myself, I wish I could make the mop pad drying quieter. Lo and behold, I went into the app and there is an option to make the mop drying quieter.
Cons/ Improvements:
- I haven’t been able to test the lift/ raise ability. I had left my pair of slippers outside a bedroom and the robot refused to climb over it. This is something I will be testing more of in the upcoming weeks.
- The robot sometimes hallucinates and keeps going around in circles for a few seconds before coming back to senses. Could just be it getting used to the surroundings, but it’s not something that I have noticed on the P50.
- The robot also struggled with cleaning up some coffee beans that we had on our runner mat and took a fair bit of time to climb the runner which is only a few centimeters thick. I suspect it got confused for a bit but figured it out my itself later.
Upcoming tests:
- Ketchup, Yoghurt clean up test
- Lifting feature
Pictures show my current setup in the hall. Air purifier, fan and the Z60. Also featuring our P50 next to my wife's fav fiddle leaf plant.
