Mopping powerhouse!

Hello, I’m back again with another post about my experiences with the Z60, courtesy of Mova’s #GetYourZ60 program! Today I want to talk about mopping, as that was probably the one aspect of this robot that I was most excited to try out. Vacuums with roller mops (rather than spinning/vibrating pads) are marketed as a big step up in terms of mopping performance, so I was curious to see if the Z60 stood up to the hype.

Spoiler alert — I am super happy with how the Z60 performs as a mopper! I always felt like my floors were relatively clean with my old robot (the P10), but the Z60 totally blows that out of the water. The amount of dirt and grime that it pulls out of my floor is extremely impressive, and the floors even feel cleaner when I walk on them. As I mentioned in one of the videos, I had hoped to be able to show the Z60 in action cleaning up a stain, but because I run it every day I feel like it finds stains and cleans them up before I even notice them half the time!

In one of the videos I attached you can see the dirty water tank after just two days of mopping — the amount of dirt that you can physically see floating in there is kind of gross, but also satisfying to know that I’m not walking on it anymore! I think the big difference for the Z60 is how quickly the roller spins and how much pressure it applies to the floor as it spins. It seems like this makes the clean much less “superficial”— it actually gets down into the floors and scrubs them more. And I love that it continuously scrapes off the dirty water and sprays on clean water so whatever touches your floor is always fresh.

The one thing that I will mention where spinning mops have an edge (no pun intended) is when it comes to getting into corners and right up to the edge of walls or furniture. The Z60 can extend its roller mop out to the side, similar to how robots with spinning mops can swing one of the pads out, but I do find that it doesn’t get quite as close when it does this as robots with spinning mops do. It does make sense when you think about it, since it doesn’t want to damage the roller at all by getting too close, but it’s just something to be aware of. I also liked on my old P10 how it would twist itself to the side with its mop extended to really get under super-low areas, like under my bed in the video I attached. But the Z60 does so much better of a job with the areas that it does mop, that I don’t really mind that it isn’t able to get quite as up-close.

Living in a home with all hard floors (wood/tile), it’s great to have such a powerful mopper!
