Z60 Detection Issues with Small Debris

Last edited by DE343116 on 2026-3-29 09:10

Quick heads up: MOVA sent me this Z60 through their Get & Create program to try out and review, but these thoughts are 100% my own and truthful.

What I expected would be a quick simple vacuum of a few pieces of debris from outside ended up giving the Z60 a lot of trouble. Though I’m not entirely certain, it seems that the Z60 thought a few pieces of the taller grass were an obstacle that it needed to avoid. I attached a photo of the cleaning map that shows the vacuum circling around the debris which it looks like it thought was a charging cable. This is an example of exactly what I want the vacuum not to avoid, especially as I have a son who loves to play in the backyard and bring in dirt. Fortunately, after multiple passes, it very slowly vacuumed everything up, leaving the carpets completely clean. It’s just unfortunate that it took far longer than expected having trouble distinguishing between dirt and a cable and didn’t pick everything up on the first pass.

This really shouldn’t be an issue with the hardware, but probably an issue with the detection software being a bit too sensitive. I did notice that the Intelligent Obstacle Avoidance setting was toggled on. I’m curious if this wouldn’t have been an issue if this setting was off. I’d definitely recommend MOVA to update the Z60’s detection capabilities.

Hello,

we recommend tapping the obstacle icon marked on the map, then selecting “Ignore Obstacle.”

After enabling “Ignore Obstacle,” the robot will no longer avoid this type of obstacle during cleaning.
