[V50 Ultra Complete] Real Life Test: Shag Rug Showdown

Last edited by Dog and Teen Boy Mom on 2026-5-5 23:52

I wanted to share a real-world test that I know a lot of people deal with…shag rugs.

With the MOVA P10 Ultra Gen 2, this was honestly a problem area for me. Every time it hit the shag rug, it would get tangled up in the edge brush. I gave it multiple chances, but it just could not handle it consistently, and I eventually had to remove the rug altogether just so the robot could run without getting stuck with the strands wrapped around the edge brush.

So when I got the MOVA V50 Ultra, this was one of the first things I wanted to test.

I did not set anything up ahead of time. I did not mark the rug, did not create any zones, just let it run and see what would happen. During its first mapping run, it actually recognized the shag rug as a carpeted area and placed a threshold around it in the map. From there, it automatically adjusted how it approached the rug.

End result…no snags, no getting the strands caught in the roller, no getting stuck. It just moved right over it like it belonged there.

That was a pretty big difference from what I had experienced before. Same house, same rug, completely different outcome.

If you have a shag rug and have had issues with other systems, this is definitely something worth paying attention to.

I was selected as a MOVA community tester for the V50 Ultra, they sent this one out for testing, and I am loving it!
