After completing the setup of the V50 and using it for a little while, I just wanted to share some thoughts on it so far.
First of all, I just want to say that the V50 looks and works great!
Setting up the dock is easy and the instructions are clear, and the same is true for the robot.
For the first floor of my house, the mapping process was really fast and very accurate (1st map)
For the second floor, the mapping took a lot longer. Maybe this was due to the increased number of obstacles in this area. When the mapping was finished, the V50 seemed to get stuck in an infinite loop of returning to the dock even though the dock is not on this floor. Eventually, I just picked it up and returned it to the dock. If I had stopped it in the app, it would have deleted the map. I didn’t have these issues with the P10 when making a second map. It just returned to its starting point and stopped there. Even with these issues the V50 did make a better map of the 2nd floor (2nd map picture).
In the garage, the V50 mapped much faster than the 2nd floor, but still more slowly than the first. It also had the same returning to dock issue at the end.
Overall, I think the setup process was very easy and relatively smooth. I do wish there was more details included regarding some of the great new features for the V50 that are accessible in the app. It has a lot of interesting stuff in the app that is not available on the P10, but they aren’t promoted well enough in the setup process or manual. I am fine with tinkering with settings and exploring the menus, but I think it may cause some people to miss out on these great features.
