This probably was not the wisest cleaning test, but after applesauce ended up squeezed onto the floor courtesy of a toddler, I decided to turn it into an opportunity to see how the MOVA V50 Ultra Complete would handle a larger sticky mess. I added some barbecue sauce, hot sauce, and parmesan cheese to create something much more difficult than what I would normally expect a robot vacuum and mop to clean on a daily basis.
To focus specifically on that section of the floor, I used a zone clean and adjusted the settings to clean as deeply as possible before starting the cycle.
At first, the results actually seemed pretty promising. The V50 Ultra Complete made several initial passes and picked up a surprising amount of the mess. It handled most of the actual sauce and debris much better than I expected during the first cycle.
As the cleaning continued, though, it became obvious that the barbecue sauce was leaving behind a stain on the floor. Running another cycle improved it some more, but there was still a visible residue afterward that needed additional attention.
In the end, I still had to pull out a Swiffer and manually scrub the remaining stain from the floor. My overall takeaway from this test is that for really large or sticky messes, it probably makes sense to do at least a little pre-cleaning first instead of expecting the robot to completely handle everything on its own. For normal day-to-day cleaning, though, the V50 Ultra Complete has still handled regular messes very well for us.
