Robot erratic since power loss

About a week ago we lost power and I came into the kitchen the next day to find the robot out of the charging station and under the kitchen table, without power and unable to turn on. I thought this was strange because there had not been a scheduled clean; I like to do them manually. The only reason we could guess was that, with the power out and its battery running low, the robot went “looking” for the charging station.Anyway, I put it back into the charging station and when power was restored it started charging. After it was fully charged I set it to do a Room cleaning of the eat-in kitchen.


Normally the robot goes around the edge of the room first and then goes back and forth. This time, it came out of the dock and started moving in random directions, running into the table legs, the island, the freezer, as if it didn’t see them. It also did not appear to recognize when it was up against a wall or a table leg, and continued to try to move forward until finally giving up and turning in another direction.


I checked the Map and the robot looked like it was reporting its position accurately, so I pressed the Home button to have it return to the dock. It announced it was “Returning to the dock to charge,” and went in a completely different direction from where it started out, even though the map clearly shows where the charging station is and where the robot is. At one point, the robot drove off the step from the kitchen into the family room, which it should NOT do because it’s marked on the map as an impassable threshold. And it has never done that before.


I tried doing a factory reset, went through the setup process again and restored the map from a backup. But when I tried a simple room cleaning, once again the robot seems unable to do its job.


I suppose the next step is to have it remap the house, but I’m not sure whether that will solve the issue or if there’s something more fundamentally wrong with the robot. I’d hate to lose the map and still have the same problem. (I’ve spent a good deal of time customizing the map with room divisions, no-go zones, thresholds, etc., and don’t really want to lose it, especially if it isn’t the real problem.)
