Why is the Z60 obsessed with my Yorkie?

I’ve been spending some time digging into the Z60’s obstacle‑avoidance behavior, especially around pets, and wanted to share what I’m seeing so far.

For reference, my current settings are:

Intelligent Obstacle Avoidance: ON

Capture Pet Pictures: OFF

Even with those settings, the Z60 still seems unusually interested in our Yorkie, Candy. She’s tiny, fast, and extremely curious about anything that moves, so I expect some interaction but the robot does appear to orient toward her more than I’d expect from a system that’s supposed to steer clear of living obstacles.

To be clear, it’s not aggressively chasing her or anything dramatic. It’s more like the Z60 detects her, hesitates, and then drifts in her direction instead of giving her a wide berth. Candy, of course, thinks this is a new game.

I’m going to continue reviewing the settings and making adjustments to see if I can narrow down what’s triggering the behavior. It could be:

The robot interpreting her movement as an open path

The camera misreading her size or shape

Lighting conditions affecting detection

Or simply the Z60 being overly cautious and inching forward to “confirm” what it’s seeing

I’ll keep testing different lighting, routes, and settings to see if the behavior changes. If I can capture a clear pattern or a clear fix, I’ll update the thread.

Candy, meanwhile, seems thrilled to have a new slow‑moving friend.

More to come as I gather more data and footage. #GetYourZ60
