Ive been using my Z60 for a little over a week now and I wanted to report on how it does with high amounts of pet hair. For background I have a bernese mountain down and a golden retriever as well as 2 short hair cats. So there certainly is no shortage on pet hair all throughout my house. I basically need to vacuum or have my robot vacuum run every day or the pet hair will start to build up on the carpets and there will be hair balls floating around the hard floors.
In the past the robot vacuums that I have will do a decent job picking up the loose pet hair from the carpets and rugs, but it wouldn't do a very good job with the embedded pet hair. So even after running it daily, some pet hair would still be left in the morning. Now with the Z60, that has changed drastically. This thing does so much better deep cleaning and really getting that embedded pet hair out of the carpets. I am thoroughly impressed when it comes to that aspect. I do have carpet boost and intensive carpet cleaning turned on to help with this as well as high frequency auto empty.
The next thing that I would often run into is that the robots dust bin would become full with compressed pet hair and then not be able to auto empty correctly, leaving some or all of the hair and debris in the dust bin. I had read of some reports that the Z60 can clog when trying to auto empty with too much debris and hair, so I really wanted to test this to see how it would handle it. I purposely didn't run my Z60 a day to let the pet hair build up and set it to standard frequency auto empty. This would be a worst case scenario stress test for me to see how it would handle an excess of pet hair.
As you can see from the pictures, the pet hair in certain spots of my carpets had built up in small clumps and you also cant really see that there is a lot more than just that. I checked the dust bin after the full cleaning to find a dust big completely full with compressed hair and debris. After having it auto empty I checked to find that it did a very good job emptying all of the contents. It left a little residual dust particles on the filter, but that is too be expected and I do clean that filter pretty frequently. All in all I am thoroughly impressed as to how it has handled a high amount of pet hair, but as always I will continue to put the Z60 to the test and see if it clogs or continues to have good results.
