A Clean Robot Is a Robot That Lasts: How I Maintain My Mova Z60 Ultra Complete

Hi All! I'm back again with another post about my Mova Z60 Ultra complete, this time with a post on how I maintain my robot. Disclaimer I did get this as part of Mova's Get and Create Program.

If your house is anything like mine, it can get dirty and quick. The best part of having a robot vacuum is not having to do the daily work of vacuuming and mopping. This saves a TON of time, but in turn, sometimes your robot needs a little TLC. In this post I'm going to walk through my weekly maintenance routine for my Z60 Ultra Complete. This process takes about 10 minutes and ensures my robot is keeping the house as clean as possible for as long as possible.

My first picture lays out essentially everything that needs be be maintained on your robot as well as some of the tools I use to get the job done. I'll get the tools out of the way first:

Hand Vacuum (top right): I know it sounds silly to use a vacuum on your vacuum but find an old hand vac and it'll be worth it. I use this to clean out the filters and catch stray dust and hair when I use the air blower.

Butter Knife (also top right): to get the front wheel off

Dust Blower (middle right): to blow out extra dust and hair from the robot

Shoe Bag: To wash the roller mop in the washer without damaging it

Not in pic: microfiber cloth to wipe sensors and a brush to clean the station dirty water tank

Now on to the robot and parts. In my second photo you can see the robot before I cleaned it. Keep in mind, its only been about 15 days but in that time it has gotten plenty of dust and dog hair all over it. Now this is to be expected, I run it every day both to vacuum and mop. I have multiple animals in the house and live in an area that can get muddy. Next I'll breakdown the parts and how I maintain them. Keep in mind, some parts come with extra's and I cycle them when I clean the robot. I do not throw them away, I use them again. I find that regularly cleaning them can extend the life of them past what you can when you run them into the ground.

Starting with the robot itself, once all the parts are removed. I start by taking a slightly damp paper towel/cloth and wipe down the main brush housing. Dirt and grime will get caught up there and you'll want to clean it and then wipe it down with a dry paper towel or cloth. Next I'll focus on the roller brush housing. This can get pretty dirty as you can see in pic #3. I once again take a damp towel and really scrub both where the water comes out of the nozzles and where the dirty water gets scraped away. Both places tend to build up some junk. Rub it down the best you can and then proceed to wipe down the rest of the robot. After you are done wiping it down. Take the air blower and blow out all the excess hair and debris hiding in the roller brush housing, side wheels and front wheel. This is where the hand vac comes in handy in catching all the debris that comes out. I then wipe the robot down one more time and then use a microfiber cloth to clean all sensors and cameras (fall sensors underneath and edge sensor's/camera on front and sides).

Robot Dirty Water Tank (top left pic #1): This one is the easiest of all the roller mops Ive had so far. it stays really clean and all I've had to do so far is rinse it out.

Main Brush Guard (top middle pic #1): Rinse it off in the sink, using a paper towel or cloth to clean the nooks. use a towel to dry it off. NOTE: you will want this COMPLETELY DRY before reinstalling and using the robot. A wet guard will attract more dirt to it.

Dustbin (top middle pic #1): rise out in the sink. use a cloth and tool (if you have one) to clean the nooks and crannies. This is another one that needs to be COMPLETELY DRY before using the robot again or dust will clump and get stuck. If you dont have time to dry it completely. Use a dry cloth and a blower/handvac to clean.

TroboWave Duo Brush (middle middle pic#1): I don't know if people know this, but the duo brushes can be removed from the spindle if you just pull it. Once you do that, run it under the sink and use a brush and some soap to clean it really good. Take extra care to make sure you get any hair stuck in the bristles out or they will become very noticeable when it drys from clumping. Since the Z60 Ultra Complete comes with extra accessories, you can just pop in the extra that comes with it and let the newly cleaned one dry overnight.

Filter: (middle middle pic#1): I usually take the hand vacuum and vacuum it out a little bit when its super dirty, I think rinse it in the sink under water thoroughly and set it aside to dry. If I am looking to dry it quickly, drying it over an air purifier works great. This is another accessory that has extra's included with the complete version so you just pop in a new one and you're good to go.

Front Wheel (middle middle pic#1): This one is simple, just wipe down with a damp towel and dry. Dust off the sides if needed.

Roller Mop (middle right pic#1): What I do is throw it in a shoe bag and then throw it in the washing machine with the hand towel load. I use detergent (WITHOUT BLEACH) and some vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser (DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER IT WILL RUIN THE MOP). Once it's done you can either dry it in the dryer on low heat or dry it over an air purifier which is what I do. The shoe bag protects it and the machine from damage. I then throw in a new roller mop that came with the Complete version and were good to go.

Roller Mop Fluffer (middle middle pic#1): this one just had a little bit of hair wrapped around it. I used a serrated knife, lightly frayed the hair and it came right off. There wont be a lot tangled there and it's easy to maintain.

Base station tray (middle bottom pic#1): I love the design on the base station tray on the Z60. It it large so it keeps the whole station cleaner and it comes completely out which makes cleaning it a breeze. Just rinse it in the sink, use some soap and a brush and it'll be all clean in 20 seconds. Very easy. just don't forget to put it back when you're done!

That pretty much takes care of the robot itself, but there is one more piece that needs some TLC and that's the base station. You've already cleaned the tray, but now it needs the dirty water tank cleaned and the dust bag checked.

In picture #4 you can see a full dirty water tank and just for this I cut open the bag so you can see what's inside. This is from only 3 weeks but in that time we dog sat multiple golden retrievers in addition to our own so Z60 Ultra Complete was working overtime. It definitely had some room left but it got A LOT of hair.

The dirty water tank is also very murky and that's after 3 consecutive days of mopping. you'll want to take it to the sink, rinse it out really good and use soap and a brush to clean it out. One note on the dirty water tank, if you have pets or a heavily trafficked home, the tank will begin to smell. I use about 4 sprays of Listerine (has to have alcohol to kill the bacteria) every time I empty the water and it gets rid of the smell completely. I've also heard of people using denture cleaner as well.

Picture #5 is another one of the dirty water tank but emptied along with another shot of the dust bag (sooo much hair!)

Picture #6 is the robot after it's been all cleaned as well as the base station try. As you can see it cleans up really nice and is ready to vacuum and mop the house again tonight. All of this plus the base station cleaning only takes about 10 minutes and saves me from having to vacuum daily and mop weekly. That's well 3 hours a week saved, a huge back ache and instead of having to mop weekly, we wake up to clean floors everyday.

The last picture is of my amazing testing team. They've been truly dedicated to creating messes for this awesome robot vacuum to clean up and I couldn't have done it without them.

If you've read this far, I thank you and I hope this has helped you in someway better maintain your robot. I know this regimen is probably overkill for a lot of people and if you're one of those people, that's ok. Maybe you do it monthly instead of weekly, but just make sure you do it. The Z60 Ultra Complete can save you a TON of time and all it asks for is a little bit of TLC in return. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them and I'll do my best to answer.

I hope you all have a good day!
