Product Name: MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete (Ground Scrubber). We love our Z60 by the way!
I wanted to share a real-world situation I’ve been dealing with regarding obstacle handling on the Z60.
In our living room, we have an extension cord that essentially runs across the space and splits the room in half. Our Z60 (Ground Scrubber) almost always refuses to go over it. We’ve had the robot for close to a month now, and I’ve only seen it successfully cross that cord once.
The other day, we had a heater plugged in on the opposite side of the room, and the Z60 wouldn’t go over either cord. Instead, it avoided the area entirely and eventually ended the cleaning cycle and returned to the dock (it gave up).
It was honestly a little funny to watch at first, but it also highlighted what feels like a limitation. Rather than attempting to cross or work around the cords, it plays it very safe and avoids them completely. In our case, that’s not ideal because it limits where the robot can clean unless we manually move the cord for it to pass. The cord itself isn’t large or difficult to pass over, so I expected it to handle it without much trouble.
For comparison, our Shark robot vacuum does the opposite. It drives right over the cord without hesitation, which helps with full coverage.
So I’m curious if there’s a way to adjust this behavior. Is there a setting that allows the robot to be less cautious with certain obstacles, or is this just how the Z60 is designed to operate?
At this point, it feels like the obstacle avoidance might be a bit too cautious in certain situations. I’d be interested to hear if others have experienced this or found a workaround.
