Expected Behavior when enabling Mop-Detach and Vac & Mop

I have enabled Mop-Detach in Carpet settings and set the cleaning mode to Vac & Mop.  My floor is a mix of hardwood floor and carpet.  What is the expected behavior?

I guess it will Vac & Mop on hardwood floor.  Once it hits a carpet, it will return the base to detach the mop and go back the carpet to do vacuum.  Once the carpet cleaning is done, it will go to the back to the base to attach the mop and continue to do Vac & Mop on hardwood floor.  

Is my understanding correct?   Thanks.
